Becks Smith with dog | Quorum Sense

Currently QS Board Chair, Becks Smith has been working as a mixed practice vet in Ranfurly, Central Otago for 11 years where she and her husband Jason also farm on their 700ha sheep, beef cattle and deer farm, Willowglen.

Becks is passionate about culture, collaboration, innovation and community, she feels her purpose in life is "to inspire sustainable change from the ground up" and wears many hats to achieve this. She is the founder of a social enterprise called The Whole Story which aims to facilitate holistic agricultural sustainability; working with farmers to take incremental steps to achieve lofty goals; looking after our environment, ensuring business viability, encouraging thriving rural communities and creating a positive long-term outcome for our rural sector.

Becks and Jason have 3 young daughters, Millie, Emerson and Asher who inspire her daily to strive to be a better person. In her small but precious moments of down-time Becks can be found doing yoga, running, mountain-biking or skiing - fresh air and sunshine are good for the soul!

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot. Nothing is going to get better. It's not.”
