Get ready for a film night in celebration of soil, food and farming

The new grassroots UK documentary ‘Six Inches of Soil’ (www.sixinchesofsoil.org) tells the inspiring story of three young British farmers standing up against the industrial food system and transforming the way they produce food - to heal the soil, our health and provide for local communities.

Below you can watch the trailer, read more about the film, plus listen to our conversation with the producer of Six Inches of Soil Claire McKenzie on the latest Quorum Sense Podcast.

“Despite all our accomplishments, we owe our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact it rains.”

- Paul Harvey (1978) U.S. radio broadcaster

More about the Six Inches of Soil film

Filmed over three years, this story of courage, vision and hope follows three new farmers on the first year of their regenerative agriculture journey - Anna Jackson, a Lincolnshire 11th generation arable and sheep farmer; Adrienne Gordon, a Cambridgeshire small-scale vegetable farmer; and Ben Thomas, who rears pasture fed beef cattle in Cornwall.

As the trio strive to adopt regenerative practices and create viable businesses, they meet seasoned mentors who help them on their journey. The film features other experts, including New Zealand-born agroecologist, Nicole Masters, providing wisdom and solutions from a growing movement of people who are dedicated to changing the trajectory for food, farming and the planet.

Quorum Sense is hosting screenings at independent cinemas around the country from 8 April 2024, with further screenings taking place during Organic Week (1-7 May) in partnership with the Soil & Health Association.
